Hundreds gather for service to remember Danny Vega

Hundreds of people gathered on Saturday to pay their final respects to a man beaten to death in South Seattle.

Danny Vega was a hairstylist who loved life.

"I went there and got a haircut and I came out ending up with a perm," said Randy Beza.

Beza considered Vega an uncle.

"He's always saying 'Hi, how's the family, how's everybody?' He brightens up the room every time he's around," said Beza.

Those who knew him best say Vega loved being with his family and friends.

"He's a legacy in the community. There's nobody in the Filipino community that doesn't know Danny," said Chatrice Felix-Beza.

Vega was walking in South Seattle on November 15 when police say three teens robbed and beat him. He later died from his injuries.

Vega's older sister, Valentina, delivered the eulogy, starting from the day he was born.

"Once upon a time, there was a little angel who came into our homes, his name was Daniel," she said.

A moving eulogy and service for a man whose life helped motivate so many and a reminder that life is so precious.

"Danny's sudden death really awakened a lot of people, that we have to take it day by day," said James Saarenas, a friend of Vega.

Police say they continue to receive tips about Vega's case every day, but so far no suspects have been identified and no arrests have been made.

If you know anything about the attack you are asked to call Seattle Police.
